The Austrian Waste Management Conference (“Österreichische Abfallwirtschaftstagung”), the most important platform for waste management in Austria, took place in Salzburg on 17 and 18 April.
The theme was “TrenntWende”, and the conference was dedicated to households separate collection and the shift towards circular economy. Amongst the discussed topics, limits of separate collection and possible mechanisms of control were highlighted, as well as strategies to address tourists. Furthermore, during the event, other issues were examined, such as the new EU targets for recycling, separation technology and eco-design, and plastics.
During the conference, the URBAN-WASTE project was presented, especially the results of the WP2. Scientific outcomes, coming from the project, of tourism’ impact on waste generation were mainly discussed with interested audience.
The event gathered more than 400 people, including representatives from public authorities, waste management companies and associations, and Austrian universities.
