The Greek coastal city of Kavala will be hosting the 8th Mutual Learning event next month, on 28 June precisely, where the 11 pilot cities will gather again. The event will this time look at marine litter, an issue which affects many coastal cities and therefore open for wider public
The 3 days long meeting will start with a Steering Committee meeting and the regular Municipality Forum, both preceding the Mutual Learning event itself. The hosts and organisers of all these events will be DIAAMATH, the waste management for East Macedonia and Thrace regions. They have already secured few study visists which will diversify the events. The participants will have the opportunity to see a recycling site in nearby city of Xanthi and how waste is managed during big concerts in festivals in Kavala.
The Mutual Learning itself, which is an open event, will again include a mixture of local and international speakers, as well as external cities interested in the topic. A number of NGOs, professors and other speakers will cover the issue of marine litter from their points of view and area of activities. A large number of URBAN-WASTE cities are coastal, as well, so the participants will be able to see what have these pilots decided to do in order to minimise marine litter’s impact and which measures will they implement.
In case there are any cities and regions having the same issue, we invite them to get in touch with us through email@example.com and we will be happy to bring them to Kavala as external speakers on our own expenses.
The agenda will be available shortly. You can register for the Mutual Learning event here:
