Nicosia, one of URBAN-WASTE pilot cities, has organised a learning event to explore innovative strategies for waste reduction and improvement of recycling in the hospitality sector, involving important stakeholders and policy-makers
On Wednesday 3 April 2019, in the framework of the URBAN-WASTE project, the municipality of Nicosia hosted a learning seminar on recycling and waste reducation issues emerging within the tourism, hospitality and catering sectors.
Held in the undergorund conference room of the Nicosia Municipality, the seminar saw the participation of key stakeholders that showcased innovative approaches dedicated to waste prevention and reduction. The Cyprus Association of Sustainable Tourism (CSTI) and Green Dot (Cyprus) Public Co Ltd, voluntarily taking part to the programme, presented their most relevant findings, figures and stretegies.
The Municipality of Nicosia also had the chance to present the main measures implemented within the URBAN-WASTE project framework, dicussing the results achieved and the chellenges faced with a high-level audience: among the public there were also representatives from the Department of the Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, the Ministry of Tourism and the Nicosia Pedestrian Association.
