2 tonnes – that’s the amount of waste the Green Kayak initiative has collected from Copenhagen’s harbour and canals this summer from April to July.
This initiative has been a success among both tourists and locals in Copenhagen. Actually such big a success that the Green kayak is now fully booked until the end of the season.
When trash blows into the water, it is left to itself. Over time, the sun and water causes plastic to degrade into tiny pieces and microplastics. To avoid this kind of pollution the idea of the Green Kayak came up.
The Green Kayak is a non-profit initiative giving you and your friend a free ride along the popular water front by collecting waste trapped in the harbour.
The initiative was started by Kayak Republic and is managed by them as well. It is funded by the initiative CultureHarbour365.
