The first Community of Practices event within the project framework was held on 1 April in Copenhagen, organised by the Municipality of Copenhagen which now deserves the title of the icebreaker, as the other 11 pilot cities and regions are in the middle of organising theirs.
URBAN-WASTE was presented to a wide public of experts and municipality authorities at the conference “Zero Waste: Waste Management and Circular Economy” in occasion of the International Fair “Progetto Comfort”.
Quadrifoglio, the waste operator for the city of Florence, and Giuseppe Ponzini on its behalf presented Florence’s waste management practices and operations related to waste deposits during a thematic seminar in Porto, on 9 March.
In Tenerife, another initiative aims at improving waste management. It is the “Plan 70/20”, which aims at achieving by 2020 a reuse and recycling rate of 70% of the waste generated in the municipality of Puerto de la Cruz.
